Q In halFILE
Search, when I print a report, the Print Preview doesn't work. What's the
problem?
A This is
a problem with halFILE's interface with Crystal Reports 6.0. You can find
a fix to the problem at our web site (www.halfile.com). Simply go to our
web site, click the Updates/Patches button, enter 'REPORT32.EXE' (all caps)
into the download box and click the DOWNLOAD button. Replace the old REPORT32.EXE,
found in your halFILE program directory, with the downloaded program and
Print Preview should be fixed. You can also get this update by calling
hal Austin Technical Support.
While we are on the subject of printing. Here's some tips regarding
troubleshooting Image Printing Solutions.
Are some work stations having trouble printing images out of halFILE?
This article is meant to help you identify the solution that will fix your
problem. Here are the most common scenarios reported to our
technical support staff regarding image printing:
Solution 1: Check your Kofax settings.
1. Select Start-Settings-Control Panel
2. Double click the KOFAX icon
3. Click the engine configuration button
4. Under available engines on the right hand side you should see one
of the following:
Scan Stations: (the order is important!)
Solution 2: Ensure that the following
files appear in the c:\imgctls\bin directory of the station that has printing
problems:
KF940.DLL PCL.PXW
Also make sure there is a path set to this directory as well as the
command:
SET BICCFG=c:\imgctls\bin\bic.cfg
in your AUTOEXEC.BAT. Check this by going to DOS and typing the command
'SET.'
Solution 3: Make sure your printers
Spool Data Format is correctly set:
1. Select Start-Settings-Printers
2. Right click on the printer icon and click properties
3. Click the details tab
4. Click the spool settings button
5. Ensure that the spool data format is set to RAW, not EMF
Solution 4: halFILE is only capable of printing to PCL compatible laser printers. If you have a postscript driver installed or if the printer is in Postscript Only mode image will not print.
Solution 5: Run the correct driver for your printer. If you have an HP 4000N but under Start-Settings-Printers the driver says HP III, many applications (especially text based ones like word processors) may have no problems. But halFILE requires the correct driver since it is printing graphics not text.
Solution 6: Make sure you are running
the most current driver for your printer. Often manufacturers such
as HP will have driver patches and updates available from the internet
(i.e. http://www.hp.com).
Now you have all the information you need to solve your printing problems.
And if that's not enough then remember, your hal technical support staff
is ready to help!
